Novel Writing Question 2: Naming Chapters or Not?

As nearly all authors do, I’ve split my novel into chapters. But, should I name them?

Is just ‘Chapter 1’ okay?

If not, what should I use?

The date, time and setting?

Some clever word play?

Or give away everything like the novels of old?

Let me know in the comments below.

    1. You’re right. When you name a chapter, you do tread a very fine line between clever and giving everything away. I suppose, unless you want to fix the chapter in a particular place or time (like Fevre Dream where the setting and time shifts a lot), naming a chapter can be just too risky.
