2018 is half-gone already. And, what have I done with it? This tag could either make me pleased or depressed. Only one way to find out!
BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR
You’re probably sick of me talking about this but I feel like this may well be my book of the year.
BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR
The Subtle Knife. It’s a re-read this year but it’s still the best sequel book I’ve read this year.
NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO
Goodreads and other book blogs have shown me a lot of good new releases but I’m intrigued by The Tea Master and the Detective. I know Aliette de Bodard from Clarkesworld and I’d like to read a full novel.
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR
I really want to read Bright We Burn, to tie up the And I Darken series.
It started so well and deteriorated so badly. My book club had terrible taste…
…until they picked this book.
FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (OR NEW TO YOU)
Another reread but this was published last year so it’s new-ish
BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY
In the sense that I was bored to tears.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY
Vampires and Japanese monsters? Yes please!
FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION
I haven’t watched any book to film/TV adaptations I liked this year, I’m afraid. Unless, it’s The Handmaid’s Tale Series 2.
MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT SO FAR THIS YEAR (OR RECEIVED)
Gorgeous art and a great story? Yes, yes, yes!
WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
Oh, where do I start?
- His Dark Materials series
- The Monstress series
- The Forever Ship by Francesca Haig
- Successor’s Promise
- Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
- Carry On
- The list goes ever on and on…
