The Birthday Book Tag

Yep, my birthday was this week. I’m not going to say how old I am but let’s just say that 30 is gaining on me fast. So, to take my mind off inexorability, let’s do a book tag. I got this from Bionic Book Worm.

1 – BIRTHDAY CAKE – a book with a plot that seems cliche but you adore it anyway

anno dracula

How many books speculate on the identity of Jack the Ripper? Loads! How many people include a secret service pulling all the strings and robbing the characters of their autonomy? A lot. How many throw in Dracula as husband of Queen Victoria and every other literary vampire in history? Only this one!

2 – PARTY GUESTS – your most anticipated book release this year

Uhh, I haven’t actually read any book that were released this year. Yeah, I have way too many books on my TBR to keep up with new releases.

3 – BIRTHDAY PRESENTS – a book that surprised you with how much you loved it

girl sweden

The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden. My book club has a habit of picking really terrible books. This one was an exception.

4 – THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG – a book that certainly deserved all the hype it got

the final empire

The Final Empire. If you haven’t read this, go and read it now.

5 – HAPPY MUSIC – a book with some very beautiful and truly memorable quotes

HP

Basically any Harry Potter book.

6 – GETTING OLDER – a book that you read a long time ago, but you think that you would appreciate it more if you read it as a more mature reader

something wicked

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. I had trouble keeping up with the plot when I first read it. I’ll probably find it better

7 – SWEET BIRTHDAY MEMORIES – a book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your life

This book was the only good thing in a terrible holiday and is one of the best books I’ve ever read, period. It also started my love of Neil Gaiman books.
