Okay, quick explanation before I start. I am very conscious of the fact that this blog is rather content-light. It’s mostly book tags and reblogs with very little original content. The trouble is, I’ve packed my life with so much that I don’t really have the time between my other projects to do what I’d call ‘proper reviews’ beyond my CROWS reviews. And, they take so much time that I can only post them every fortnight.
So, I’m going to do reviews for time-poor people like me who can only skim a review and glance at the scores. I am going to attempt to sum up my impressions of a book in 100 words or less with a score out of ten hearts (not stars in an effort to be original) and who I would recommend it to. Hope you enjoy! To start us off:
This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay
This should be required reading.
It should be in every NHS waiting room. It should have markers indicating entries about timewasters and terrible patients. I am never going to say a bad word about doctors again after reading this.
It’s also one of the funniest books I’ve ever read (since it’s not just babies Dr Kay had to delivery). When it’s funny, it’s hilarious. When it’s sad, it’ll move you to tears. You will never look at the British medical system in the same way again.
