I dare you not to fall in love with Ursula.
This book is flighty, funny and with one of the best main characters I’ve yet read. It’s truly a sign of good writing if a character who, if in another writer’s hands, would be someone I hate. I’m sure Jane Austen would make Ursula into a Lydia-Bennet-like character. Ursula is spirited and sometimes reckless but she had an excellent sense of humour and her lists, ‘plays’ and other pieces of writing really make the book come alive.
