Time to bare my reading habits to the world with this tag I found on My Bookish Dream.
Original creator: Charly Reynhorse
How many books do you usually read at once?
Normally, about three but I can push it to four if I want to.
If you’re reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch to reading the other book? (Do you read a certain amount of pages in each?)
It depends where I am. I have an audiobook for travelling, a book for home and a book for work (usually a CROWS book). I used to listen to the Classic Tales Podcast on the bus in between audiobooks too.
Do you ever switch bookmarks while you’re part way through a book?
Nope. I have a bookmark for every book. My Hokusai bookmark for my work book and my Charles Rennie Macintosh bookmark for my CROWS book. Yes, I am a bit of an art nerd.
Where do you keep the book you’re currently reading?
Work book: in my work bag. Home book: by my special reading chair (yes, I actually have one). Audiobook: on my iPod (ditto).
What time of day do you spend the most time reading?
On the bus on the way to work in the early morning and evening. One of the few perks of a long commute is lots of reading time.
How long do you typically read for in one go?
As proved last Christmas with The Way of Kings, I can read all day if I get the chance! But, usually, it’s about an hour or two. Depends how much free time I have.
Do you read hard covers with the dust jacket on or off?
On. It just doesn’t look right with it off and I’m worried about losing it or getting it damaged if I leave it off.
Which position do you mainly use to read?
Sitting in my aforementioned special reading chair (which looks nothing like this).
Do you take the book you’re currently reading with you everywhere you go?
Yep. You never know when you’re going to get a moment to read a couple of pages.
How often do you update your progress in the book you’re currently reading on Goodreads?
I update obsessively! I update whenever I put a book down and even calculate my progress in percent when I’m listening to an audiobook. There’s just something so satisfying about watching that bar creep towards 100%
Please let me know if you share any of my reading quirks in the comments. I tag anyone who wants to share their reading habits!
I hope to see you again very soon.
