20th June 2021 – Favourite LGBTQIA+ characters

  • Kamai from Beyond the Black Door by A. M. Strickland – my favourite asexual main character so far!

beyond

  • Liz from You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson – Liz Lighty is the determined, good-hearted prom queen who wants the crown for the right reasons that we all need!

you should see me in a crown

  • Charlie from the Heartstopper series – you could pretty much pick any of the LGBT characters (and there are plenty to choose from) and you’d have a winner but I’m going with one half of my OTP and gay disaster, Charlie Spring.

heartstopper 3

  • Jack Wolcott from the Wayward Children series – a mad lesbian scientist, need I say more?

come tumbling down

  • Evelyn from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – Evelyn is a brilliant example of a flawed but awesome character. Oh, and she’s bisexual too.

seven husbands

  • Gideon from Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir – if the idea of a foul-mouthed butch lesbian bodyguard to a lesbian necromancer doesn’t get you interested, I don’t know what will.

gideon the ninth

I hope to see you again very soon.

  1. Jack from the ‘Wayward Children’ series is awesome! I like both Nick and Charlie’s characters from ‘Heartstopper’ but I find the storylines somewhat one-dimensional, in that they’re SO focused on sexuality and coming out they don’t allow the characters room to breathe. Just my opinion, I know most people love them. 😛
