Spotify Wrapped Book Tag 2022!

I received my Spotify Wrapped playlist and I’m astonished they managed to pull together 100 songs for it. I’m the sort of person who tends to listen to one song on repeat for a week or more. But, they somehow managed it and, when I saw this tag on Rosina @ Lace and Dagger Books, I decided it would be interesting to mix it with my books.

Rules

The idea of this challenge is to put your 2022 playlist on shuffle, and for the first five songs, you need to pick a book you read in 2022 that fits that song. It doesn’t have to be a perfect fit. You just have to explain why you chose that book for that song. Obviously, you will not have a book match for every song, so you can skip if you need to. But the idea is that you at least need to try, even if it is embarrassing. This was a lot of fun last year, and I’m excited to be doing it again. I hope you all will too!

Song 1

In The End by Linkin Park

Anyone who’s completed the series will know why!

Song 2

Hey Let’s Go – Azumi Inoue

tea dragon festival

For the opening song of My Neighbour Totoro, I needed something bouncy, innocent and that includes lots of nature. The Tea Dragon Festival certainly fits the bill. It even has a forest spirit to boot!

Song 3

Lost Woods by Mikel and GameChops

book woman of troublesome creek

It was tricky to match this song up with a book. I don’t really read anything similar to the plot of Zelda but I decided that, since its title includes ‘woods’ and it’s a rather lonely-sounding piece of music, I’d go with this book since Cussy travels through woods on her own like Link, trying to make the world a better place.

Song 4

The Fine Print by The Stupedium

ready player one

I picked this one since it includes an amoral corporation which, if it could, would certainly take over a planet and turn it into a capitalist dystopia where everyone who lives there is indentured to the company.

Song 5

Shelter from the Storm (2022 Remaster) by The Stupendium

indifferent stars above

Yep, I listened to a lot of Stupendium songs last year and probably will this year. I picked this one for the song since the song is about a survival game based in a harsh and unforgiving land of snow and ice. Very much like the place the Donner Party found themselves stuck in and the song has something close to the same bleak tone as the book.

I tag anyone else who likes mixing music with books.

I hope to see you again very soon.
